Spurred by the Santa Ana winds, Southern California fires wiped out neighborhoods in the Anaheim Hills. Visitors at Disneyland said the sky turned orange (above.)

In Northern California, wildfires raged through California wine country Monday, killing at least 11 people, injuring 100, destroying 1,500 homes and businesses and thousands fled as evacuation orders were issued.

Governor Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency as fourteen large fires burned over a 200-mile region north of San Francisco from Napa in the south to Redding in the north
