In damning texts read in court Thursday, former National Enquirer editor Dylan Howard wrote to an unnamed Australian relative, “[Trump]’s just been named President-elect… at least if he wins I will be pardoned for electoral fraud.”

This refers to Howard and publisher David Pecker’s scheme to pay off  Playboy model Karen McDougal so she couldn’t sell her story about having an affair with Trump, which might have impacted his run for President.

This contradicts Trump’s lawyer’s argument that the falsification of business records to hide the $15,000 payment to the Playmate model was mere ‘bookkeeping’ and a very minor thing.’
