To help the many Ukrainian children traumatized by Russia’s invasion of their country, therapists have brought in a pro…’Bice ‘an American pit bull terrier.

Visiting children at rehabilitation centers, his handler shows off his tricks– sit, roll, handshake — and then lets the young children play with Bice.

Darina Korozei, his owner and handler said, “I read a lot of literature that working with dogs, with four-legged rehabilitators, helps children reduce stress, increase stress resistance, and reduce anxiety.”

Watching the children play with Bice, the handler spoke of the different trauma each child had endured, like the brother and sister from Kupyansk, who witnessed Russian soldiers storming into their home with machine guns, grabbing their grandfather, putting a bag on his head and beating him, Sliepora said.

“Each child is psychologically traumatized in different ways,” said Korozei.

For at least 30 minutes, these children got to play with Bice, and forget about the war. Temporarily.
