You’re familiar with SHISEIDO as the prestige cosmetic and skin care line but bet you didn’t know that they are a partner in Global Sustainability and active in ocean conservation. For instance, this week in Huntington Beach they promoted ocean protection with special events such as ocean clean-ups plus beach planting, and coral reef protection. Partnering with the World Surf League (WSL) at the U.S. Surfing Open they sponsored events to bring awareness to their mission.

And last year, SHISEIDO delivered the ‘We Are One Ocean’ petition to the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biodiversity, calling on world leaders to protect and conserve 30% of the global ocean by 2030.

At the welcome dinner to kick off Shiseido Surf Week Presented by Shiseido Blue Project, the brand hosted an eclectic group of WSL Pure executives with the press to discuss their new launches (reef-safe sunscreens of course) and new initiatives in ocean conservation.

Take their new limited edition WSL sunscreen line, invisible SPF 50+ sunscreen with a protective veil that becomes more effective in water and heat. A portion of sales from this limited-edition packaging will be donated to promote the protection of our oceans.
