In Africa, a gorilla by the name of Pikin, had been captured and was about to be sold when Ape Action Africa came to her rescue.

The award-winning photographer, Jo-Anne McArthur, took this stunning shot as the gorilla was being moved from her former enclosure within a safe forest sanctuary in Cameroon. Pikin had been sedated, but suddenly woke during the transfer but fortunately was happy to discover she was in the arms of her caretaker,Appolinaire Ndohoudou, and so she remained calm for the duration of the bumpy drive.’
