On Wednesday, the Biden administration sued Texas over its controversial and possibly illegal immigration law that gives local law enforcement the authority to arrest migrants, arguing the state “cannot run its own immigration system.”
This is the second lawsuit over Texas after Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed a law that gives judges the ability to ‘issue orders to remove people from the US.’
The White House has criticized the law — which is timed to take effect in March — as “incredibly extreme.”
Meanwhile, the Republicans announced they will continue their efforts to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas over his handling of the border crisis.
