Remember that woman on an American Airlines flight who was mad that her seat didn’t recline so slapped the flight attendant?

The FAA just fined her a cool $23,000. We’re surprised she didn’t do jail time. (The airlines can’t prosecute; just refer the case to the FBI.)

This comes as airlines deal with a rising number of belligerent passengers, many of whom won’t wear masks on planes despite the federal mandate. The FAA said Wednesday that it has received more than 5,000 complaints of unruly passengers this year alone, and 73 percent were mask-related.

We’re still awaiting the fate of the first-class passenger, Brian Hsu, in October who punched an airline attendant. She suffered multiple broken bones as a result.

The federal mask mandate is set to remain in effect until at least January 18.
