Five years after the horrific fire that almost destroyed Paris’ Notre Dame Cathedral, the reconstruction has gone according to plan and some of the scaffolding is coming down. Now, you can see the spire throughout most of Paris.

Modeled after the old one, which was badly damaged in the 2019 fire, it’s still a rooster (the national symbol of France) but with golden flames to resemble a phoenix.

Fitting.

The Cathedral will not open to the public until December.

French President Emmanuel Macron celebrated the development, writing on social media, “She appears once again in the sky! French pride.”
