NASA’s new moon rocket, Artemis, blasted off successfully this morning.(It’s carrying dummies rather than crew members.)

It’s been 50 years since the end of the Apollo program.

With all systems go, it is expected that Artemis will take three weeks to orbit the moon and then splash down to earth in the Pacific in December.

“It was pretty overwhelming,” said NASA Administrator Bill Nelson. ”We’re going out to explore the heavens, and this is the next step.”
