New York made it clear that Trump was not welcome back in their city and so, in a snit, Trump changed his residency to Palm Beach, expecting to live in his palatial Mar-a-Lago after leaving the White House.
But now his neighbors in Palm Beach have hired lawyers to prevent him from living permanently in Palm Beach because he ‘promised not to use the club as his home’, has ‘clogged traffic’ and ‘ignored local rules.’
(‘Ignored local rules?’ Imagine our surprise.)
Trump hasn’t made friends in his time spent at the club, suing Palm Beach lawmakers about zoning issues, for instance, the time they wouldn’t let him build a dock at Mar-a-Lago and that time he sued over the noise of airlines landing at an airport close to the resort.
There’s absolutely no legal theory under which he can use that property as both a residence and a club,’ said Palm Beach resident Glenn Zeitz, an attorney who is part of the local resistance to a post-presidency move by Trump to the area.
‘Basically, he’s playing a dead hand. He’s not going to intimidate or bluff people because we’re going to be there.’
