It looks like it’s made out of Lego bricks.

After Biden announced that the US military would build a humanitarian causeway and pier to deliver much-needed aid to Gaza, where over 2 million people face famine, the first images of the giant project emerged.

It’s made of big steel segments which fit together and when finished will create a two-lane, 1,800ft bridge attached to the shore.

While more than  1,000 US troops are expected to participate in the operation, there will be no “boots on the ground”.

As you can see in the illustration, cargo ships deliver supplies to the dock which are then offloaded onto smaller ships (known as logistics support vessels or LSVs ) and taken to the pier.

The goal is to deliver aid equivalent to two million meals a day to Gaza, which is much more than airdrops can do and much more aid than is currently coming in by trucks through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt and Kerem Shalom crossing with Israel.
