Lewis Hamilton, the world champion F1 driver, has always used his platform to speak out on social justice, especially when it comes to BLM and LBGTO issues.

You’ll notice that whenever the Mercedes team races in countries with terrible civil rights records, such as Saudi Arabia — the driver wears a rainbow flag on his helmet.

Speaking out before Sunday’s Miami race, he slammed the State’s repressive ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law.

“It’s not good at all,” Hamilton said.“I stand by those within the community here. I hope they continue to stand firm and push back. I’ll have the rainbow on my helmet. It’s no different to when we were in Saudi.”

This isn’t the first time the driver has stood up for social issues in the U.S. Last year he was outspoken about abortion rights, saying:

‘I love being in the States, but I can’t ignore what’s going on right now and what some in the government are trying to do to the women who live here,’ Hamilton said at the time. ‘Everyone should have the right to choose what they do with their bodies. We can’t let that choice be taken away.’
