Just in time for the summer travel season, the European Union announced that visitors who have been fully vaccinated and are from a ‘safe’ country ( COVID rates are low) are welcome.
Some countries are already welcoming international tourists, such as Greece which lifted quarantine requirements for visitors from certain countries including the U.S. Iceland allows vaccinated travelers as well.
While Europeans will have digital certificates that will be readable across the bloc sometime in June, the debate now is how to determine the vaccination status of someone, say from the U.S, who at this point does not have a so-called COVID passport.
