Did you know that 61 million Americans of all ages are currently at risk to go blind or experience severe vision impairment? (That’s more than the populations of Florida and California combined.) And that cases of blindness and visual impairment are expected to double by 2050?

These were the results of a federal study done late last year, prompting a  call to action for Allergan who has partnered with the nation’s leading volunteer eye health and safety organization, ‘Prevent Blindness.’ In an effort to defeat preventable blindness and visual impairment Allergan is pushing to get every American to their eye doctors for regular checkups.

And other scary statistic, two-thirds of blindness and visual impairments occur in women; essentially more than 70% of people deemed legally blind are women.

Unlike dentist and doctor visits, many people forgo a regular eye exam, with devastating results. Don’t be one of the scary statistics, make a point of getting an eye exam and encourage your loved ones to do the same.
