In a bombshell new book, Washington Post reporters reveal that former President Donald Trump considered sending US citizens infected with the coronavirus to Guantanamo Bay…in order to keep the numbers down and help his re-election campaign.
“Don’t we have an island that we own?” Trump asked staff in February 2020, the Washington Post reported. “What about Guantanamo?”
Reportedly, Trump’s aides were shocked by the question and the second time he brought it up they flatly told him it was a terrible idea.
The book, entitled Nightmare Scenario: Inside the Trump Administration’s Response to the Pandemic That Changed History, was written by Post journalists Yasmeen Abutaleb and Damian Paletta.
