2.The variant is spreading about 55% faster than the original strain because it is so contagious.
3.With less than half of the US population fully vaccinated the CDC is warning of a “pandemic of the unvaccinated.” And 99.5% of deaths are among the unvaccinated, US Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy said Sunday.
4. The report — to be released Friday — will show that fully vaccinated people can transmit the virus, even if they don’t fall ill themselves. Since the vaccinated carry ‘high virus levels’ if they become infected, the CDC concluded, it’s likely they can transmit the virus as often as the unvaccinated.
