Poor Chris Wallace who had the unenviable task of trying to rein in Trump during the presidential debate.

On Wednesday the beleaguered  FOX newsman lamented the ‘terrible missed opportunity.’

Wallace said: ‘I’m just disappointed with the results. For me, but much more importantly, I’m disappointed for the country, because it could have been a much more useful evening than it turned out to be.’

Wallace said it left him feeling ‘desperate’ at points.

Now the organizers for the next debate are promising changes:

‘Last night’s debate made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues,’ the Commission on Presidential Debates said in a statement.

One of the suggestions is giving the moderator the power to cut the mic of either of the candidates. Asked about potential changes, Joe Biden commented:

‘It was a national embarrassment. I am not going to speculate what happens at the second or third debate.’

But would a mic button even help? Chris Wallace doesn’t think so.

‘As a practical matter, even if the president’s microphone had been shut, he still could have continued to interrupt.’

Maybe a taser?
