Once so secret they were protected by the UK’s Official Secrets Act, there are plans afoot to open a mile-long series of World War II tunnels that were used by the Secret Service. During the war, the Special Operations Executive (an offshoot of MI6 ) planned strategy while safe from the bombs above.

Some say this was the real-life inspiration for James Bond’s ‘Q Branch.’

At a cost of  $268 million, planners hope to transform the war tunnels into an immersive experience, with massive high-resolution screens, interactive structures, scent-emitting technology, and hundreds of pinpoint speakers.

If the plan is approved, the organizers intend to invest $170.5 million in the restoration work and then another $97 million into all the immersive tech and entertainment.

IF it gets approved, the London tunnels won’t open until 2027 however.
