For the first time, we watched a President address Congress with two women behind him on the dais… House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on his left, Vice President Harris on his right.

Biden even pointed out that fact in the first line in his speech, enthusiastically addressing them:

“Madame Speaker. Madame Vice President. No president has ever said these words from the podium — no president. And it’s about time!”

Despite the great optics — and not to diminish the moment — what are we looking at? Two women seated behind an older white male.

Yet, we do have a female VP for the first time, and soon, we expect this Nation to vote for a woman President.

History is made in small steps.
