Remember when coffee was thought to be bad for you?

That seemed like just like last week. It seems studies on coffee yo-yo (technical term) from each study.

So take the new study with a gulp of caffeine.

Recent tests have shown that enjoying that cup of Joe (high test or decaffeinated ) may actually lengthen your life span and lower risks for chronic disease, especially Type 2 diabetes.

Reportedly, people who drink 3-4 cups of coffee daily have a 25% lower risk of diabetes compared to those (crazy) people who drink health shakes for breakfast and eschew the black stuff.
Figure it this way, your chances of developing diabetes decreases by approximately 6% for each cup of coffee you enjoy.  That is up to six cups of coffee.

Part of the benefits come from polyphenols — those compounds in fruits, vegetables, whole grains — which are so good for us.

And this doesn’t apply to tea… even green tea. A cup of coffee contains about double the concentration of polyphenols contained in a cup of green or black tea.

A cup of coffee also contains fiber — up to 1.8 grams, or roughly half the amount you’d find in one serving of broccoli. Great news for those of us (raises hand) who aren’t getting their daily serving of veggies.

So have that extra cup!
