It was a risk when House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (Republican) gave Fox’s Tucker Carlson, who has always denied the violent riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6, access to more than 40,000 hours of security camera footage.

It backfired spectacularly when Carlson just showed ‘peaceful’ protestors on his show, ignoring the violent clashes that left Capitol police dead.

At one point, he aired footage of protestors milling in a hallway at the Capitol building instead of scenes of them vandalizing the art on the walls, pinning a Capitol police officer behind a door until he couldn’t breath, or breaking into lawmakers offices.

“The crowd was enormous,” Carlson said. “A small percentage of them were hooligans. They committed vandalism. You’ve seen their pictures again and again. But the overwhelming majority weren’t. They were peaceful. They were orderly and meek. These were not insurrectionists. They were sightseers.”

Sightseers?

Carlson seems to have forgotten there have been multiple deaths tied to the attack and more than 1,000 arrests have been made in connection with it, while 100 law enforcement officers were injured during the riot.
