UPDATE:

The Trump impeachment trial now moved to February 9th as Biden agrees saying ‘the more time we have to get up and running the better.’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced she will formally deliver the House-passed impeachment article to the Senate on Monday, which means the trial of Trump starts immediately. The impeachment reads ‘for incitement of insurrection’ following the raid on the Capitol by Trump supporters.

Reminder: Two-thirds of senators would have to vote for Trump to be convicted. If convicted, the ex-President would be prevented from holding public office again, he would lose his tax-funded Secret Service detail and his salary of a million dollars a year.

Trump will be the first president impeached after leaving office and the only President to be impeached twice.

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer announced Pelosi’s decision to ‘transmit an impeachment article to the Senate.’
