On Monday, Nike bravely announced that former San Francisco 49er’s quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the new face of Nike’s 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign. While many people cheered, some nutjobs people burnt their Nike trainers in protest.

Spurred by a President who has railed against Kaepernick for ‘taking a knee’ to protest racial injustice in this country, haters put pics of their flaming shoes online with hashtags like #BoycottNike and #JustBurnIt.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson went so far as to call Kapernick’s ad “an attack on the country.”

But plenty of sports stars came out in defense of Nike and Kaepernick, such as Serena Williams who tweeted :

‘Especially proud to be a part of the Nike family today.

And while Tom Brady has remained quiet on the issue, he ‘liked’ Colin’s IG posts, which is a clear sign of support. Other NFL players including Kenny Stills, Shawne Merriman, and Kelvin Beachum chimed in to show their support as well.

One man decided to burn his shoes…while he was wearing them. Yes, he had to go to the hospital.
