What better place than the swanky new Esperanza Cocina de la Playa restaurant in Manhattan Beach to host a tequila tasting of MICO tequila?

Our favorite in the tasting — the Mico Tequila Reposado — is aged in American Oak whiskey barrels then finished in Napa Valley Cabernet barrels.

All of the Mico double-distilled small batch tequilas were so good they were really made for sipping (though they did make a superb skinny margarita as well.)

While the tequila would pretty much go with anything, it was perfect with Esperanza’s modern take on Mexican cuisine with a seafood flair.

It just replaced Patron as our favorite tequila.
