Monday F.B.I. raided the office of Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen with a warrant from Mueller and it didn’t take long for an incensed President to get on Twitter.
‘Attorney–client privilege is dead!’ Trump tweeted.
‘A TOTAL WITCH HUNT!’
What is the FBI looking for? Cohen, seen above, is being investigated for bank fraud and campaign finance violations and had his phone, computer and bank records seized. If, as suspected, he used a home equity line of credit to borrow the $130,00 to pay the porn star for her silence, and then shell companies to move the money, he has committed a crime.
What about client-attorney privilege you say? IF it is believed that a lawyer helped someone further a crime, then that overrides the legal confidentiality.
What happens next? If Trump stays true to form, he’ll try and fire Robert Mueller, but even Republicans in his own party have signaled they would fight that. Meanwhile, the man in the White House continues to Tweet.
‘It’s a disgrace. It’s frankly a real disgrace,’ Trump said before a meeting with his top military advisers. ‘It’s an attack on our country, in a true sense. It’s an attack on what we all stand for.’
