As Israel has dismissed the idea of a cease-fire in its war against Hamas, the U.S. is using a different approach and pushing for ‘humanitarian pauses’ to allow much-needed aid into Gaza and help with hostage releases.
Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken is on his way to Israel now to urge Netanyahu to agree to a ‘brief cessations of military operations in Gaza’ so aid groups can deliver food, water, medicine, and fuel which are running dangerously low.
The crisis is even more urgent after a strike on a refugee camp in Gaza this week killed hundreds of people as Israel tried to take out a Hamas leader.
