We all know that compression socks are recommended for long plane trips but what exactly do they do?

According to doctors, they are designed to ‘apply pressure to your lower legs, helping to maintain blood flow and reduce discomfort and swelling,’ which in turn prevents sometimes deadly blood clots. And by increasing blood circulation, you get more energy.

That also makes them great for anyone looking to prevent varicose veins (raises hand.)

But until recently, the only compression socks available looked like your grandparents. Enter Pear.

Their Black Sheer Compression Socks ($33) are dressy so when we wear them no one suspects that are actually compression socks. ‘Wearable Wellness,’ as the site says.

Seamless with graduated compression, they’re comfy, breathable, and hypoallergenic. The benefits are said to include improved circulation & lymph flow, reduces swelling, relieves aches, minimizes & prevention of varicose veins, and improved overall energy.

Since PR gave us a pair to review we’ve bought three additional pairs. (As a matter of fact, I’m wearing them now!)
