For the traditional Oscar Best and Worst Dressed list — which hits the ‘net even before the bloated awards show has ended — most fashion critics pretty much agree on the most horrendous outfits, which are sometimes so bad you wonder if they chose them on purchase to get their photos some notoriety.

There’s no such thing as bad publicity?

Ariana Grande.

Take Ariana Grande, who many thought overdid it in a custom pink strapless ruched column gown by Giambattista Valli Haute Couture. Reportedly, the prink candy floss dress required 400 yards of tulle.

The billowing sleeves (?) overwhelmed the diminutive Grande (who’s more like a piccolo) though the singer/actor was likely paying homage to her character Glinda from ‘Wicked.’

Composer Laura Karpman.

Composer (‘American Fiction’) Laura Karpman may have looked like a mirrored disco ball, but her Oscar outfit was par for the course for this eclectic artist. (For fun, Google some of her recent outfits.)

But the criticism of Cosby Show’s star Erika Alexander’s strange outfit was unanimous.

It would have been a winner if she’d just worn the elegant white column dress, but adding the garish black, purple, pink, and green tutu-style skirt made it look like a costume.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson walked the Red Carpet in a shiny, poorly-fitted Dolce & Gabbana that wouldn’t be out of place on a sleazy street corner. Fashion fail.

Emily Blunt.

Nominated for her role in “Oppenheimer,” Emily Blunt glided down the red carpet at Sunday’s ceremony in a cream-colored Schiaparelli couture gown with a few odd design features including the shoulders of her dress that ‘floated’ above her dress. It looked all the world like a fitting mistake. And then there were the sparkling crystals below the waist of the gown, which seemed to outline a pair of men’s tightie whities?
