Following guidelines from the CDC, the Department designated many destination countries at ‘Level 4: DO NOT TRAVEL.’ 80% of countries worldwide fall in this tier.
Though you may be fully vaccinated, there is still a danger of traveling to a country that doesn’t have the deadly virus under control. And you could bring back one of the COVID variants, though you might be completely asymptomatic.
As the announcement read: “The COVID-19 pandemic continues to pose unprecedented risks to travelers.”
