As COVID cases rise in the US as makes come off and mandates are relaxed, Dr. Fauci explained that ‘This is not going to be eradicated and it’s not going to be eliminated,’ and conceded that it’s up to individual Americans to decide how much risk they are willing to take.

When asked if we’ve reached the point where we must accept some risk and get back to a ‘new normal,’ Fauci emphasized:

‘This is not going to be eradicated and it’s not going to be eliminated. And what’s going to happen is that we’re going to see that each individual is going to have to make their calculation of the amount of risk that they want to take in going to indoor dinners and in going to functions.’

That means that people should consider their age, health status, and if they live with someone more vulnerable to the virus, ie Grandparents or adults with underlying health conditions.
