If you didn’t know in advance, you’d know the instant you met Jade Jagger that her Dad is the Rolling Stone’s Mick Jagger. Beautiful, confident and with those lips…
As the only child of Mick and Bianca Jagger, Jade grew up in the fabulous rock n’ roll years and that rumor of Andy Warhol being her early baby sitter are true. (We asked.)
Known now for her fine jewelry collection, Jade brought her latest designs to showcase at Chateau Marmont. Every piece of the Jade Jagger Jewelry is exquisite (and expensive.) She hand selects the gemstones and works with the traditional goldsmiths in India (her second home is in Goa) to create the one-of-a-kind rings, and necklaces. Besides her bohemian luxury jewelry line (in L.A. you can buy it at Maxfield and in N.Y. at Saks Fifth Avenue) the design guru has decorated luxury hotel suites around the world, collaborated on fashion collections and designed a number of popular products, including the now iconic bottle for Guerlain’s Shalimar fragrance. We quizzed her about the inspiration behind some of the new collections:
JADE JAGGER:
‘The Bohemia collection are inspired by all my travels traveling, such as the flawless briolette diamonds and rose cuts, where with the Quintessence collection each piece represents the elements of Earth, Wind, Fire and Water along with an unchangeable, incorruptible entity of love, the pure essence of the human spirit, or heaven itself. I have produced hand carved precious Sapphires, Rubies, Aquamarine, Labradorite, Chrysophrase, Cabochons set in diamond encrusted overlaid cage work.”
On the Stellar collection:
“Inspired by constellations of sparkling supernovas and falling stars, I have taken fine De Beers diamonds and set them in flowing geometric clusters, set in yellow, white and black gold. Heavenly settings for the finest dazzling diamonds.”
Jade started her art career as a painter and then worked as Creative Director for Asprey and Garrard the worlds oldest luxury goods brand before breaking out on her own. Each piece of jewelry is a piece of art. You just wear it instead of hanging it.
