If you follow Jackie and Shadow, the two Bald Eagles, who take turns sitting on three eggs on Big Bear Bald Eagle’s Live Nest Cam,you know how riveting (addictive?) it can be. ( Jackie is the bigger Eagle — it’s typical for female bald eagles to be larger than males. )

Lucky watchers have caught sweet moments, such as when they bring new branches home which is a bonding ritual that shows their ‘continued commitment to the nest.’

Sometimes, they’ll bring each other a fish. (Sitting on a nest makes an eagle hungry!)

Now Eagle fans have been on “pip watch.” Pipping is the process of a baby breaking through the shell.

Since Jackie laid the eggs in late January,  the youngsters could hatch any day now.

Hopes are high since last year the two eggs never hatched and experts suspect they froze.
