Wang Yaping, 41, will be the first woman, or  “taikonaut,” as the Chinese say, to jet off into space headed for the new space station, Tiangong.  Yaping will spend 6 months there and is expected to be China’s first female spacewalker, conducting multiple EVAs (Extravehicular Activity) outside the station.

 

 

In an interview with China Central Television, Wang said of her space adventures to date:

“Dreams are like stars in the universe. They look far and unreachable, but as long as we try, we are destined to reach them.”
