California has traditionally been good for Democrats, with big-name directors holding fundraising parties and very vocal support from the Hollywood crowd in general.
Now that V.P. Kamala Harris is running for President, a fresh crop of A-listers has come out to show their support.
Here’s just a few:
- Charli XCX. Charli XCX was one of the first celebs to back Harris on social media, calling her a ‘Brat.” (That’s a compliment.)
- Barbra Streisand. …
- John Legend. …
- Yvette Nicole Brown. …
- Jessica Alba. …
- Jamie Lee Curtis. …
- Beyoncé …
- Octavia Spencer
If you’re not up on the ‘brat’ summer trend, it’s a Gen Z expression meaning, roughly, someone who is honest, prioritizes individuality, and is sometimes a bit of a ‘mess.’
Kamala HQ – the official X page of Ms Harris’ campaign – jumped on the trend, immediately changing its cover to match Charlie XCX Brat album cover.
This week, Beyoncé gave the Harris team the rights to use her song “Freedom,” which you’ll already hear when Harris walks onstage at rallies.
Says actress Jamie Lee Curtis, Ms Harris has a “trusted and tested” record adding that she has been a “fierce advocate for women’s rights and people of color and her message is one of hope and unity for America at her time of great national divide.”
Singer John Legend said he was “grateful for the grace and patriotism” Mr Biden had shown in stepping aside, and threw his support behind Ms Harris: “She’s ready for this fight and I’m excited to help her in any way I can.”
Cher wrote: “I Believe Its Only Chance 4 [the US] 2 Remain DEMOCRACY.
“‘WINNING IS ALL’, DONT WIN CAN’T CHANGE ANYTHING & THE TIMES THEY MUST BE A CHANGIN.”
Rapper Cardi B enthused on X, writing: “LETS GOOOOO I TOLD YALLL KAMALA WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE 2024 candidate.”
Singer/actress Ariana Grande shared Biden’s post endorsing Harris to her Instagram story, which read: “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”
Meanwhile, Christie Brinkley took to Instagram to say, “Sometimes the best man for the job is a WOMAN.”
