On Friday, the WHO announced that Europe had nearly 2 million coronavirus cases in a single week – which is the highest number since the beginning of the pandemic.

While COVID cases are dropping in many parts of the world, virus-related deaths have also gone up 10% there. The Delta variant is to blame, plus low vax rates in countries such as Austria, which has adopted a novel plan to lockdown just the unvaccinated.

Police will be out doing spot checks and offenders face a stiff fine.

Germany and the Netherlands are — sadly — breaking their own infection records and bringing back lockdowns.

Experts blame the unvaccinated for the new surge.
