In my never-ending quest to find an ultra-hydrating cream for my undereye area, I gave Mychelle Hydrate Hyaluronic Acid Instant Firming Gel a try. ($34.99.)
Not a cream but a clear gel, MyChelle Hydrate contains concentrated 2% hyaluronic acid and claims on the jar to “instantly plump, smooth and visibly diminish fine lines” as well as “help puffiness and dark circles.”

The company, MyChelle Dermaceuticals features clean skin care and has been in business for more than twenty years. Their eco-friendly, science-driven products are nature-inspired and designed to help all skin types.
The gel is a clear, light blue color and is made without parabens, petroleum, phthalates, silicones, sulfates, ureas, artificial fragrances and colors. It is also vegan and cruelty-free. The ingredients include Persian silk tree extract, caffeine, hyaluronic acid, and magnolia flower oil to hydrate the delicate skin around your eyes.
So how does it feel and work? The consistency is a bit thick and when applying, is best to use a small amount under the eyes and then build to avoid a tacky feel. I used it several days in the morning before my moisturizer and at night again before my retinol treatment.
Did I see instant plumping? No, but the gel does seem to soak into the skin quickly and seems to provide an extra moisture barrier before a daily or nightly moisturizer. Over time, it may prove to help smooth and minimize facial lines. But, in the meantime, I’m not waiting for a miracle just yet.
