Former daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres — who relocated to the English countryside with her wife earlier this year — has taken a rare public stance in support of fellow comedian Rosie O’Donnell after former President Trump targeted O’Donnell.

On July 12, Trump posted on Truth Social that he was “giving serious consideration” to revoking O’Donnell’s U.S. citizenship, calling her “a threat to humanity.”

In response, O’Donnell shared a defiant message on Instagram and TikTok, highlighting her status as “a loud woman, a queer woman, a mother who tells the truth,” and challenging Trump:

“You want to revoke my citizenship? Go ahead and try, King Joffrey with a tangerine spray tan. I’m not yours to silence. I never was.”

The next day, July 13, DeGeneres published an Instagram carousel: the post included Trump’s threat and O’Donnell’s rebuttal, captioned simply, “Good for you,” tagging Rosie. EW added that DeGeneres shared O’Donnell’s poem and publicly voiced concern over the citizenship threat.

O’Donnell’s fears are likely unfounded. Being born in New York, she is a natural-born U.S. citizen protected under the 14th Amendment. Constitutional scholars confirm that citizenship cannot legally be revoked without serious criminal grounds — such as treason — or voluntary renunciation.

In April, O’Donnell opened up about her decision to move abroad after Trump took office.

“I have no regrets,” O’Donnell told CNN. “Not a day has gone by that I thought it was the wrong decision. I was welcomed with open arms.”
