The scenes were horrifying; scared passengers evacuated after an emergency landing at LaGuardia Airport in N.Y. and a potential ‘bomber’ spread-eagled by police on the tarmac.
Turns out, the ‘suspicious ‘ package the passenger in question was carrying was actually a vintage camera, not a bomb.
The camera aficionado was taken into custody and his luggage confiscated before the mistake was uncovered.
‘The JTTF [Joint Terrorism Task Force], the FBI and the Port Authority Police Department determined that there was no criminality on the part of the passenger and he was released,’ said Port Authority spokesman Tom Topousis.
