In new security footage shown at the Impeachment trial, VP Mike Pence is rushed by his security detail away from the rioters, and for the first time, you see a military officer carrying the so-called ‘nuclear football.’
Apparently, the Vice President is always is close to a backup ‘football’ with the nuclear launch codes in case the president is incapacitated.
US Strategic Command only became aware of how close the mob came to Pence and the critical football after seeing the security video played at Trump’s impeachment trial by Rep. Stacy Plaskett.
‘As the rioters reached the top of the stairs, they were within 100 feet of where the vice president was sheltering with his family, and they were just feet away from one of the doors to this chamber,’ Plaskett said during her presentation.
She then shared a video of Pence, his family, Secret Service agents and the military officer holding the ‘football’ running to safety.
There is no question the armed MAGA followers were looking for Pence after Trump had tweeted that his VP had let him down and you can hear the scary chants of ‘hang Mike Pence’ on the tape.
