Though Cloris Leachman won an Oscar, she is best remembered for her comedic character Phyllis on The ‘Mary Tyler Moore Show’. The actress admitted that the neurotic daffy Phyllis was close to her own persona.
Her well-deserved Oscar for a supporting actress came from playing the bored housewife in Peter Bogdanovich’s ‘The Last Picture Show.’
Leachman died of natural causes on Tuesday in Encinitas, Calif. She was 94.
