Amazon announced Wednesday that it will no longer test most job applicants for marijuana use. Amazon, which is now the second-largest private employer in the U.S., also says it now backs legalizing marijuana nationwide.
“In the past, like many employers, we’ve disqualified people from working at Amazon if they tested positive for marijuana use,” the company said. “However, given where state laws are moving across the U.S., we’ve changed course.”
After all, Amazon’s home state of Washington legalized marijuana waaay back in 2012, and it’s building an East Coast headquarters in Virginia where weed will become legal July 1.
How long before the company starts delivering the green herb? Stay tuned.
