In 2016, we heard President Donald Trump promise that he would get Mexico to pay for his beloved border wall (to the tune of 5B) but he now maintains:
“When during the campaign, I would say ‘Mexico is going to pay for it,’ obviously, I never said this, and I never meant they’re gonna write out a check, I said they’re going to pay for it. They are,” he said as he prepared to depart the White House for the southern border.
As Trump leaves to make a last stand at the southern border today he continued to claim that he never said that Mexico would pay for the wall directly, despite video evidence to the contray.
