This wasn’t what anyone expected.

After the desert festival was flooded and ‘burners’ were told to shelter in place, on Sunday they received the all-clear to leave. The mud dried enough for cars and RVs to finally line up to leave the Burning Man festival.

The area received two to three months’ worth of rain in just 24 hours leading to stalled cars and RVs …and overflowing porta poties.

A sheriff estimated the wait was 8 hours to get off the Playa.

Late Sunday evening, event organizers said there were 72,000 people on site and by midday Monday, roughly 64,000 people remained.
