Well, here’s some news we’ll drink to.

Researchers have revealed that drinking alcohol in moderation cuts the risk of needing eye cataract surgery by almost a quarter.  Published in the Journal of  Ophthalmology, researchers believe it’s antioxidants that protect us against developing cataracts.

 

 

 

Red wine contains high levels of a powerful antioxidant called resveratrol which is thought to ‘prevent inflammation and oxidative stress linked to cataracts.’

And before you go out and buy a caseload of wine, by ‘moderation’ they mean ‘five or more times per week.’

And we would be remiss if we didn’t mention that drinking comes with other, serious health risks so imbibe responsibly.
