Dancing with the Stars introduced con artist Anna Delvey (real name ‘Sorokin’) as a “fashionista and entrepreneur” but neglected to mention her time in prison for defrauding people.
But in the strange voiceover, Delvey admits to her crime:
“In 2017, I was accused of multiple counts of grand larceny,” Delvey said in her extraordinary voice-over package before her dance, which saw her struggling with the ankle bracelet during rehearsals. “I did serve my time, and ‘Dancing With the Stars’ is a way to show people a different side of me.”
It was Delvey’s blinged-out tracking device that got all the attention (it certainly wasn’t her dancing.) Coordinated to match her blue, purple, pink, and yellow ensemble, it was still highly visible.
