Just hours after the mass shooting which claimed 12 lives, Thousand Oaks is now on fire — literally.

Brush fires sprung up in the Southern California Newbury Park area, which is in western Thousand Oaks.

The so-named Hill Fire has also burned through over 8,000 acres in the Santa Rosa Valley east of Camarillo, prompting authorities to issue a mandatory evacuation. The 101 Freeway has also been closed after the fire jumped the freeway.

Mandatory evacuations have been ordered in Ventura County and more than 500 firefighters are in the battle, with more arriving from around the State. We’ll keep you posted.
