In a press conference at the White House, Trump admitted that in the ‘worst case’, Iran strikes could put in power a new leader ‘as bad or worse than the ayatollah.’

“I guess the worst case is we do this and then somebody takes over who is as bad as the previous person,” Trump admitted. “That could happen.”

Also, by way of explanation, Trump said: “We were having negotiations with these lunatics, and it was my opinion that they were going to attack first,” said the president. “They were going to attack if we didn’t do it. They were going to attack first, I felt strongly about that.” He gave no proof of this.

He also warned that he may ‘put troops on the ground’ in the area, something he swore he would never do in his campaign speeches.
