After tennis star Peng Shuai’s posted that she had been raped by a former Chiese VP Zhang Gaoli official, the athlete went missing. Even the White House expressed concern about her safety and the World Tennis Association pressed for more information.

In a statement, Jen Psaki said that the Biden administration is “deeply concerned” about tennis player Peng Shuai’s disappearance and is calling on the Chinese government to provide “independent, verifiable proof” of her whereabouts.

Monday the International Olympic Committee says its president, Thomas Bach,  held a video phone call with Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai and posted a photo of the supposed conversation.

However, many remain unconvinced, in fact, the IOC just tweeted,  “this does not change our call for a full, fair and transparent investigation, without censorship, into her allegation of sexual assault, which is the issue that gave rise to our initial concern.”
