A second batch of long-sealed records related to Jeffrey Epstein was released this week, drawing renewed scrutiny after the documents included numerous mentions of former President Donald Trump. The latest documents, made public by the Justice Department, contain investigative materials, correspondence and logs compiled during federal probes into Epstein and his associates.
One of the damming revelations is a postcard where Epstein wrote, ‘Our President also shares our love of young, nubile girls.’
The documents reference Trump in a variety of contexts, including social contacts and secondhand accounts recorded by investigators. As with earlier releases, the mentions do not constitute charges or findings of wrongdoing, but their volume has fueled public debate and intensified political reactions. Trump has previously denied any involvement in Epstein’s criminal conduct and has said he cut ties with the financier years before Epstein’s arrest.
The release has prompted calls from lawmakers and transparency advocates for fuller disclosure, with critics arguing that redactions remain extensive and that additional records should be made public. The DOJ has stated that the disclosures are part of an ongoing process and that the remaining redactions are intended to protect victims and ‘sensitive investigative details.’
For his part, Trump just wants it all to go away, telling his supporters on Truth Social :
“not waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein, somebody that nobody cares about,” and spread baseless conspiracies that the so-called files were created by Democrats to go after him.
He told reporters on Monday :
“What this whole thing is with Epstein is a way of trying to deflect from the tremendous success that the Republican Party has,” he said. “Like, for instance, today we’re building the biggest ships in the world, the most powerful ships in the world, and they’re asking me questions about Jeffrey Epstein. I thought that was finished.”
