The Franklin fire, which sprang to life overnight in Malibu, continues unabated. It has consumed over 4,000 acres and 20,000 people have been forced to evacuate.

Some 12 million people were alerted to red flag warnings, as strong Santa Ana- dry winds that blow in from the desert — has fueled winds of more than 60 mph. Add in the dry undergrowth and you have a perfect storm.
